It will take seconds to reach Baleroc so you got seconds with the buffs to do work. Funny how RNG can taunt you. First time I tried Baleroc, without any flying buff, I got all the way to his berserk killing me with melee hits. I'll keep trying until RNG blesses me. I might try using Resolve of Niuzao. Okay that's it for now. I'll update if there's more to add. Cheers from Bloodhaze-Kul Tiras. Comment by Vainio On hc this guy can still be a pain after the 6.
The damage he deals is negligible compared to the damage dealt after stacks of the crystal debuff, and the aoe the crystal pulses does minimal damage. You WILL still need some kind of healing though, especially if you are doing 25 hc. Comment by zedwards Yeah I don't know. Don't see lots of others saying what to do. I believe this is only possible in the Brewmaster spec. If you take one hit, you must immediately pop Guard, Expel Harm, and then the best healing potion money can buy.
After that all you can do is cross your fingers. It will actually benefit you to have LESS max HP for this encounter, although the only benefit is during that second window in-between his Decimation Blade swings when you're healing yourself back up for another hit.
The numbers you're healing yourself for aren't quite as important as the actual percentage you're healing yourself for. Lower max HP means potions will be healing you for a higher percentage, even though they're technically still healing you for the same amount.
Sometimes you get two Inferno Blades in a row. Every once in a blue moon, this is actually a really easy fight and you can burn him down before he hits his 3rd blade cycle. If you can make it through one single Decimation Blade phase lasting 15 seconds, just burn down the boss and acquire your free transmogs and heroic achieve. Sounds simple, right? Be prepared for a lot of cursing, broken keyboards, and the world's saltiest, most brine-soaked tears.
Second time, I blew all cooldowns, stood in the one spot and nukeorama. Comment by benx At this moment, it's impossible for a ilvl or lower mage to solo this in 25m heroic. And it's still tough to solo at ilvl Since blizzard took away the Glyph of Evocation, no more periodic heal while standing on Rune of Power.
Mirror Image talent is a must for this fight even the images cant last in 2 hits. I found Frost mage is easier to solo this because your pet can buy you a little time. It would be a lot easier if Blizzard didn't take away the healing frostbolt, which could heal the pet.
The boss will always attack the pet. You cannot out run the boss so kiting is pointless. It's a DPS race for mage in this fight. You wanna reset all your spell CDs as soon as possible. Use them up, use Ice Block again. Nuke as fast as you can. Again, this fight is a DPS race for mage.
Comment by Starfury 25h seems impossible to solo at least as a prot paladin with gear. Even getting lucky and having 2 inferno blades in a row I couldn't kill him before the 3rd and there seems to be no way to survive decimation blade due to it ignoring divine shield.
Damage reduction doesn't seem to have any effect. Also tried it as ret and there was just too much incoming damage. Comment by Avaressa Easy to solo as guardian druid. First I tried as balance but at some point I got to much dmg to heal through.
Then I did as guardian and followed the tip of someone to keep out of range when he is casting his shard spell. Somehow, this made him spamming this spell because all I was doing was strafe-running in circles arround him.
Comment by reflexion Just soloed him today as a Ret Paladin. After 3 close but failed attempts, I read around for advice. Unfortunately, everyone was saying it's pretty much still unsoloable for Ret. Going back for another attempt, I decided to just blow everything which I did before but instead of tanking and trying to move out of shards and the RNG, I simply kept moving. Back up, hit a wall, strafe, turn, back up, hit a wall, strafe, etc.
Let me know if this strategy works for you, and happy hunting! Comment by Nalixor I just want to say this fight is easy if you're a BM hunter. Just let pet do all the damage, sit back and spam Kill Command and Mend Pet, and hit your cooldowns. Oh, and move away from Crystals. Comment by Alacor Clear all bosses apart from bird boss.
Engage Alysrazor stack buff to Kill her and fly over to Baleroc. Proceed to global him on 25 heroic. Comment by Palahniuk If you are a balance druid or any other spec for that matter , spec into Heart of the Wild. This allowed me to easily heal through the damage and basically nuke him standing in one place. Before using HotW he was hitting me hard. Basically just keep mend pet up and avoid the purple crystals that pop up near you as they are the main thing that will kill you.
Baleroc, shannox, Lord Ryolith and Alysrazor are all pretty easy to take down even in 25 man HC as a hunter and all drop around gold along with other loot. I made a short video showing the kill here. Comment by Dust This fight is super easy for a semi-geared level if you just avoid those crystals! By that point, it's too late to avoid the damage; it's already killing you. As soon as you see the vertical purple stream of light appear on the ground which shows you where the purple crystal is about to appear, RUN!
Comment by kjeksomanen Soloed as protection warrior lvl 93, ilvl His hits will still hurt, but blocking will help tremendously against this. Comment by Jalopy Solo'd this as a enh shaman in heroic Like others have said, stay away from the crystals and just burn him and self heal if you can. Comment by Almachai Baleroc is easy to solo for decent dps in Warlords of Draenor. However, as an off-spec dps I have a tendency to run into trouble if Baleroc casts Decimation Blade before you kill him even a paladin bubble is no match for this terrible spell!
This is why I recommend doing the Alysrazor strategy. Here is what you do: 1. Kill Shannox in order to take down the barrier so you don't get stuck later.
Do Alysrazor first. DPS her slowly while accumulating haste buffs from going through her rings. When you reach 24 stacks, you get an extreme boost in both critical strike and the haste you built up from the rings.
Finish off Alysrazor If you right-click her as she's falling, you can loot her in the air , then fly to Baleroc.
Be mindful of the fact that he has an invisible wall between him and Alysrazor , but you can fly over it. You will damage Baleroc so fast, his Decimation Blade will likely not have time to spawn, as it never comes first in his blade rotation This Alysrazor strategy is also good against people having trouble with Shannox or Lord Rhyolith , but remember you can only do this strategy once per Alysrazor kill.
I suppose it could be possible to gather the stacks and go after bosses before killing Alysrazor , but I don't know for sure if it would work. Comment by Rkane I might be missing a mechanic, but when I solo this on my warrior, as soon as he starts casting Inferno Blade or his sword turns red and spills lava my raging blow bugs? Comment by HeKol On an average of 10 runs Baleroc 25HC rewards gold, 42 silver and 58 copper after vendoring dropped gear.
View in 3D Links. This NPC can be found in Firelands. Overview — The raid will need to take advantage of [Blaze of Glory] on tanks and [Vital Spark] on healers in order to keep the tanks alive as Baleroc alternates between using his [Inferno Blade] and [Decimation Blade] abilities.
To give healers more stacks of [Vital Spark] , the damage dealers will need to coordinate standing near Shards of Torment in turn. Tanks — [Blaze of Glory] increases your maximum health; but it also increases your Physical damage taken.
This attack ignores defenses and armor. If a Shard of Torment ever causes you to become [Tormented] your healing done will be greatly reduced. The longer you stand near a Shard of Torment, the more damage [Torment] will do to you. Walking away changes the [Torment] to [Tormented]. Avoid Shards of Torment while you are [Tormented]. If a Shard of Torment ever has no players nearby, it will unleash a [Wave of Torment].
Shards of Torment — Baleroc summons crystals amongst his foes, which continually channels a shadowy beam on the nearest player. Torment — The Shard of Torment inflicts Shadow damage per application to the nearest player, stacking once per second. Wave of Torment — If no player stands within 15 yards of a Shard of Torment, the Shard pulses this effect, inflicting Shadow damage each second to all players.
Vital Spark — If a player casts a direct heal on someone being damaged by Torment, the healer gains an application of Vital Spark for every three stacks of Torment on the target.
Casting a single-target direct heal on a target affected by Blaze of Glory will trigger Vital Flame. When Vital Flame expires, it restores the Vital Spark stacks consumed to create the effect. Blades of Baleroc Baleroc periodically empowers one of his blades with Shadow or Fire energy, and wields it alone for 15 sec.
This damage cannot be resisted or mitigated. Classic TBC. Quick Facts. Comments Comment by outstanding You can find this behind the gate that Baleroc is guarding in the firelands. Comment by ohatcheejack If you're wondering why the Orb won't build the bridge, it's because you need to kill Shannox first, and Shannox won't spawn until you've killed enough trash in the area first! Hope this helps save a few clicks.
Baleroc earned a reputation as a merciless combatant during the elemental wars of ancient Azeroth. Now that he is confined to the Firelands, Baleroc's sanity has dwindled.
Few elementals dare disturb him, fearful that they will become victim to his battle lust. The Decimation Blade mechanic motivates you to have one tank who has a little over K health so that he can survive Decimation Blade.
The other tank will gain stacks of Blaze of Glory which will eventually cause him to have much more health. The Decimation tank should start the pull and stack Blaze of Glory until he has just over K health. At this point the Blaze tank can wait for safe time not during an impending Decimation Blade and taunt off the Decimation tank.
If the Blaze tank were struck with Decimation Blade late in the fight he would suffer much more than K damage, causing unnecessary load on the healers. Conversely, if the Decimation tank were struck by Inferno Blade, he might not have enough health to survive the Incendiary-Soul-augmented damage. When Baleroc empowers his blade, it will be random whether he chooses Decimation Blade or Inferno Blade note: the first blade will always be Inferno Blade , but you do have a warning to give you time to taunt.
Once his blades are empowered they are in that mode for 12 seconds. This damage cannot be reduced by cooldowns, absorbs, or blocks, but fortunately it can be dodged or parried. If the healers are having difficulty doing this reliably the Blaze tank can taunt until the Decimation tank is restored. This is a desperate tactic because the healers then have to heal up the Blaze tank from near death, and in the late stages of the fight it is not unusual for the Blaze tank to have more than a million health.
The random nature of the blades and the chance to avoid Decimation Blade does, along with the rapidly ballooning healing output, does mean that losing the Decimation tank late in the fight is not necessarily an instant wipe. The Blaze tank can survive a single Decimation Blade, and healers can often though with difficulty manage to heal through the vastly increased damage if they've been stacking Vital Spark properly, and it's possible to randomly get Inferno Blade instead of Decimation Blade repeatedly.
In addition, if a tank is resurrected, he retains his stacks of Blaze of Glory, so it is possible for him to resume his role. Baleroc drops Shards of Torment: 1 in man, 2 in man.
The shards will spawn on the closest non-tank to Baleroc, generally one of the melee, so it is a good idea to have the melee stack up at a particular location before each shard spawn to ensure a predictable location.
Thus, a raid member who takes 12 stacks of Torment and then moving away from a shard will have received one application of Torment. Under normal circumstances, with a proper rotation of players to deal with the Torment debuff, your raid should complete the achievement simply by virtue of having high enough DPS. Alternatively, your raid can make use of additional players in the shard rotation to ensure that someone who has already received Torment thrice does not become affected again such as having a healer soak a shard at the end of the fight, or one of the DPS players which somehow did not become involved in the rotation.
It is possible for certain classes, such as Shadow Priests, to soak a shard all by themselves, especially if they also receive external cooldowns such as Guardian Spirit. In case your raid uses two tanks, the tank not tanking Decimation Blade can also participate in soaking a shard, though particular care should be paid to his health. All in all, the achievement is one which your raid will struggle to get with low DPS kills lasting around 6 minutes , but will find easy to complete with high DPS and proper shard management.
The heroic mode of Baleroc is a true test of your raid's DPS. It is a brutal gear check, during which you will most likely reach the hard enrage timer. However, from a strategy point of view, the fight remains very similar to normal mode and is as close to a "tank and spank" fight as you will find in the Firelands. There are two main differences from normal mode which cause this encounter to have slightly altered strategy and positioning, but in essence, the fight does not change drastically.
Because this fight is tuned so tightly in terms of beating the enrage timer, raids will find that every single advantage that they can gain will have to be employed. We will detail all the relevant aspects below. Because the encounter is a massive DPS race, you will want to drop down to a single tank, for both 10 and man difficulty. Additionally, you should reduce the amount of healers to 2 in man and 4 or, at most, 5 in man difficulty. The fact that Tormented spreads to other players means your raid will have to be extremely careful with movement.
While this would, perhaps, not be that problematic in itself, your raid will have to contend with Countdown. If one of the two players linked by Countdown is Tormented, it will be very difficult to avoid spreading Tormented to the other player, although it is possible with excellent coordination and latency. For this reason, your positioning will have to be more carefully planned out than in normal mode.
We have prepared an image illustrating positioning for man raids. As you can see in the image, your aim is to have a few specifically designated areas, as follows:. Melee players who will also be soaking the melee Shard should be located behind the boss, and should spread out accordingly so as not to transmit the Tormented debuff among themselves. The only differences concern the movement and positioning requirements, as well as the high DPS requirements. Tanking and healing remain unchanged.
The fight will play very similarly to its normal mode counterpart. Player rotations for soaking Shards of Torment should be used. Whenever a ranged player receives the Tormented debuff, he or she should move to the Tormented area, and make sure to be away from any other players including while moving to the Tormented area.
Players linked by Countdown should come together before the 8 second duration wears out, and should do so without coming in contact with Tormented players, or with any players should they themselves be Tormented. The start of the fight is the ideal time for Heroism , Bloodlust or Time Warp , as this is a time where everyone is guaranteed to be alive and have all their DPS cooldowns available.
In order to maximise healer stacks of Vital Spark , players should attempt to survive as many stacks of Torment as possible. Many DPS classes have damage reduction cooldowns which they should use during this time. Through combinations of personal cooldowns and external cooldowns like Guardian Spirit or Pain Suppression , the following specs can survive all 25 stacks of a Shard of Torment:.
Because of the boss' very large health pool, coupled with the low enrage timer, it is very likely that the boss will become enraged before dying especially on your first kill.
Do not worry, however, as the enrage will not instantly wipe your raid. Instead, Baleroc's damage done will be buffed significantly, to the point where he will be one shotting everyone he attacks. Fortunately, as he is running from player to player, this will allow you quite a lot of time to finish him off. Hunters are of particular value here, as they can tank the boss for 5 seconds thanks to Deterrence before using Feign Death and continuing to DPS.
It is up to you to set up a positioning strategy for when the enrage happens, such that your two hunters for example are on opposite sides of the arena, meaning that the boss will have to travel a great distance from one to the other. Keep in mind, however, that Wave of Torment will very promptly wipe your raid, so even after the boss becomes enraged, you must make sure that there is always someone within 15 yards of Shards of Torment. While Baleroc does have an enrage timer, which will require reasonable DPS to meet, when learning the fight we advise you to ignore DPSing the boss while making sure that a proper rotation of players taking Torment is established, and healers become accustomed to healing the tank.
Baleroc is an extremely interesting healing encounter, and while it may take your raid several attempts to distill a proper strategy for your own raid, we have no doubt that your healers and tanks will have a great deal of fun in doing so.
